What do I gain by using IRS & CA e-file?
Fast refunds! Electronic Payments! Accuracy! Security! Proof from the IRS & CA e-file return was accepted. IRS and CA e-file are more accurate than paper. Your tax return is transmitted from the ERO's computer to the IRS. Your Federal and State returns may be filed together.

If I owe how do I pay my taxes electronically?
You can authorize a direct debit (auto withdrawal) from your checking or savings account at the time your electronic tax return is prepared. You can also e-pay by credit card. (Amex, Discover, and MasterCard. You can direct a date to be debited between now & April 16 to pay any balance due. **(there is a small fee for your balance to the credit card)

Is the IRS or FTB storing Credit card info?
NO! the IRS & FTB does not have access to credit card numbers or directly participate in the credit card transactions. The IRS & FTB rely On private credit card processors to verify the validity of the card and line of credit. The processors forward the appropriate tax payment information to the IRS & FTB.

How do I know that the IRS or FTB really has my return?
The IRS notifies your authorized e file provider that your return was received within 48 hours of transmission. IF the IRS or FTB detects any errors, it sends a message back to the e-file provider indicating the error. The error is corrected and the return is retransmitted to the IRS.

Do I have a greater chance of being audited by the IRS if I use IRS e-file?
NO! The chance of an audit of an e-filed return is no greater than with a paper return. When the IRS or FTB audits, they do a random sampling of a particular item on everybody's return that meets the criteria they are looking for. (ie: They may want to check on anybody who filed a SCH C in the year 1998 with net incomes of $10,000 or less...)

Is there a fee for e-filing my return?
Yes, for first time e-filers, SCG Financial Services co will charge only $20 for both Fed and state returns. Thereafter, each year the fee will be $20 to file both returns.

How long does it take to get my refund?
It will be 8 days from the date processed according to an established schedule for direct deposit or approx 15 days for a paper check.
ie: IF your transmission is sent during the week of Feb8-Feb 15th, your direct deposit will be sent Feb 23 or the paper check sent March 2.

If you do not e-file, the wait is usually 3-4 weeks if you file by March, if you wait to April 16 then it can be 5-7 weeks.
